Biography
Blood drips from a self inflicted wound on John Lenningrad's forehead as a kangaroo suited Paul McCarthy slings propaganda at the crowd... this is Mockba.
The Revolution lives comrades! The message of the Workers Revolution is now being spread through most deceptive means, American rock music. Formed in 2001, under the shadows of burnt-out factories, Mockba rallies the un- and underemployed.
While post-punk bands like the Pixies, Joy Division and Sonic Youth were earliest influences, the Mockba sound is also a result of local influences found in their native Buffalo, NY. Bands like the Trailer Park Tornados (BigNeck) and Tyrades (BrokenRekids) gave Mockba its early trash-punk edge. Soon this sound would give way to something else.
In early 2002, Mockba started to be influenced by the local punk-blues/ surf bands like the Bloody Hollies (Sympathy/ Alive) and Irving Klaws (GetHip). Surf riffs with healthy doses of reverb had begun to make their way into the newest songs. In keeping with the local influences, the new songs had stripped choruses or none at all.
Mockba has released two Eps themselves and the Cheap Vodka LP appears on Nicotine Records. Mockba songs have been on the Discovery Channel series Urban Explorers and the Big Neck Records comp Pain in the Big Neck.
